Pangolins are mammals with scales made of keratin (like our fingernails). Like our fingernails they grow, but fall out and are constantly being replaced.. They have extremely sharp claws and a powerful tail that they can use to hang from trees as a monkey can. They have a very long tongue and eat ants, but are not in the anteater family. They roll into a tight ball when threatened, but are not related to armadillos. They are hunted to almost extinction as a food delicacy and as medicine in China, Japan. and Africa. They look like warm-blooded pine cones!
