It always amazes
It always amazes me Herb how you come up with the most scrumptious of musical tasties
Yep it's another mighty fine bit of song smithing along with a classic treatment by the Buckeyes. Thanks for sharing partner...
Herb, what is this? It's sorta sexy, but the flutes need some horns behind them. Is this thing out? Is this thing old? b.
Herb, it's a throwback to an early 70's R&B Chicago/Philly sound, which is something I've always loved. The recording is good- I don't think it's great, as it does not have a strong pop "hook". But mostly, I'm not enamored with the mix- I know that those recordings from that time had shitty mixes to begin with, but I still think this record is mixed too thin. It needs more upper mid-range sounds, and some fatter bottom for gonads. That's my 2 cents. Tim
The song sounds good, but I'm in total agreement with Tim Hauser; he's right on point regarding what the recording needs. Overall, I like the song.
Tim, Thanks for your valuable input. Don't forget me if you get near
Atlanta or Marietta. Also, I wish you could find the early performance
tape of the best folk trio extant.
Herb
agree with tim....so authentic to the point of it could be an outtake from the 60's. But it is missing something....not sure what....clever though. I prefer the Dusty Springfield tribute from a year ago by Shelby Lynne cause she breathed some NEW life into some old classics...and Elvis Costello's Bacharach set from a few years back...again...something added.
That's what makes the horserace, right?
