Subject: Breaking news: MD decision on fracking
Reply-To: "Sarah Alexander, Food & Water Watch" <salexander@fwwatch.org>
Dear Herb,
The Washington Post reported yesterday that Governor O'Malley is planning to move forward with fracking in Maryland.* Despite hearing from thousands of organizations and individuals that fracking would jeopardize Maryland's air, water and public health, Governor O'Malley has cynically announced this decision just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Will you call him now at 1-866-583-2908 to tell him that this is a major mistake that will harm our climate and communities?
We need to get calls in to Governor O'Malley from all over the country. Governor O'Malley has been traveling the country touting his progressive credentials, but there is nothing progressive about opening up an unfracked state to this dangerous and polluting process.
- Call Governor O'Malley at 1-866-583-2908
- Tell his office: "I just heard that Governor O'Malley plans to move forward with fracking in Maryland. I am deeply disappointed by this decision, announced just before Thanksgiving. He should be standing up for the people of Maryland instead of promoting corporate interests. I urge him to reconsider his stance and ban fracking now."
Governor O'Malley was quoted as saying, "Maryland can't afford to stick its head in the sand here," but it's Governor O'Malley who is turning a blind eye to the mountain of scientific evidence showing that fracking cannot be safely regulated.
Thank you for making a call,
Sarah Alexander
