An Indonesian Celebes crested macaque (Macaca nigra), considered a critically endangered species, snapped this selfie while playing with a photographer's camera. British photographer David Slater has requested that this image be removed from the public domain—he said he owns the copyright and should earn fees. Wikimedia said that the image, taken by a nonhuman subject, is free to share.
